SUSAN STAY
Susan Stay, LCSW (licensed clinical social worker) was born and raised in a small town outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and her Masters in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh.
Susan began her clinical work in addiction services. She was asked to start a children's group for children impacted by addictions and this led her to work in child and adolescent therapy. Over time, Susan shifted her focus to work with adults. Susan has facilitated skill-based groups and has extensive experience addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, codependency, addictions, and interpersonal issues. Susan is a certified therapist in EMDR which she integrates with Family Systems and other modalities across the spectrum of best-practice solutions. Continued personal and professional development is a core value for Susan. Susan opened Susan Stay & Associates to provide a practice based on the mission of providing a safe and supportive place for her clients, and to offer a healthy place for other therapists to flourish and grow. She changed the name to Stay Counseling Center to reinforce the idea that the practice is less about one person and more about staff and clients alike. Susan has lived long enough to have had her own personal struggles. She understands, very personally, what it is like to experience dark times. As a result, she believes that everyone has the potential for growth, change, and the capacity to obtain joy, balance, and purpose. Susan is happily married and the proud mother of two adult sons. Susan enjoys spending time hiking with her dogs, laughing with her friends, reading, and traveling. Susan describes her life as being rich in love, compassion, and humor. |
